When I am aware I need to get out of my head and more into my heart, that’s when I feel the need for self care time calling me (which honestly - I have been known to resist from time to time).
In these situations, I often hit trails in the forest and lead myself to the trees, streams, snow, mud or whatever is presenting in the current season. By the end of my hike or stroll, my mind becomes quieter and my heart begins to open wider than it was when I started. In those moments, my heart feels as if its singing like the birds and running with the squirrels! It’s such a much needed reprieve. I will sometimes even ask myself why I was resisting going in the first place?!
I tell myself to remember and reflect on that when I become aware that another self care time may be in order. This is just one of my self care practices and what it is to me.
What is one of your self care practices ? How would you describe it and what it is to you?
